Dr. Peter Vickers
My name is Peter Vickers, I am fifty one years old. Although hailing from Sydney
I am now resident in the national capital. I am qualified in the fields of Medicine
and Dentistry, specialising in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I have trained in
surgery in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia. I have also undertaken clinical
work in South East Asia having worked in Malaysia for three years. I hold Fellowships in
Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, England and Australia. I have a diploma
of residency training from the examination board of the Louisiana State University, USA.
My recreational interests include golf and water sports. I take my four children camping
when time permits. I support the Canberra Raiders, Sea Eagles and Socceroos. However I
like watching Manchester United and AC Milan.

Dr. Michael Cooper
My name is Michael Cooper, and I was born and schooled in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia). I completed 2 years
of National Service as a pilot in the Rhodesian Airforce, and I then moved to South Africa where
I completed a Bachelor of Science Degree.
I moved to Sydney in 1981, with my family, and I subsequently completed undergraduate degrees in Dentistry and
Medicine. I qualified as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon when I passed my Fellowship examination in 1995.
I have been in specialist practice in Canberra since that time. I currently hold the rank of Squadron Leader
in the specialist reserves.
I have two young boys who keep me active, and my interests include flying, golf, cycling/running and Tae Kwon Do.

Dr. Paul Hammans
I'm Paul Hammans, coming from Germany. I graduated from the
Medical School of the University of Bonn in 1983 and completed my
PhD in Medicine one year later. After attending Dental School I
graduated in 1989 and completed my DDS thesis in 2000.
I started my surgical training in Neurosurgery in 1984 and switched
to the Clinic for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1989. I completed
my training and received my certificate for Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery in 1993. I have been working in private practice near Düsseldorf
since 1994 with my main focus in Implantology.
In 2005 I moved with my family to Australia and started working as a specialist
at Canberra Surgicentre.
I spend most of my leisure time with my wife and our three young kids. My
interests include travelling, golf and tennis.

Dr. Peter Cannon
I'm Peter Cannon, and I trained in Dentistry at Sydney University. I then travelled to the United States
and gained experience at Boston City Hospital in Oral Surgery and Anaesthetics. I then moved to the
United Kingdom where I completed my professional training by studying Medicine at Leeds University and
also passed the Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
I was appointed Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Huddersfield, UK where I remained
until 2001 when I returned to Australia to practice as a specialist in Sydney and Canberra.
I am married and have a grown up family and one grandson. My interests include travel, theatre in
all forms, walking and barramundi fishing.

Dr. Barry Gaudry

Hello, I am Barry Gaudry. I was born and brought up in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, and
having survived being hit by a Bondi tram at the age of 5, graduated in Dentistry
from the University of Sydney in 1957.
After 2 years in the Australian Army as a dental officer, I went overseas in 1960.
Between 1960 and 1965 training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery units in various hospitals
in England in Liverpool, Birmingham and London. I obtained my Fellowship in Dental Surgery
of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1964.
I returned to Australia in 1965 to take up a joint appointment at The Queen Elizabeth
Hospital and the University Dental School in Adelaide; becoming an inaugural Fellow of
the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons in 1967.
In 1968 my family and I moved to Canberra and started Canberra’s first private practice
in the speciality of oral and maxillo-facial surgery. I was in solo practice in the speciality
from 1968-2000 in Canberra except for 1989-1993. During this 4 year period I spent 2 years at
the Royal Darwin Hospital, as senior specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Darwin
have been described as “the fractured jaw capital of Australia”. I then spent another 2 years in
solo speciality private practice in Penrith before returning to Canberra.
Apart from attending many conferences in Australia and overseas, I have continued my post-graduate
experience and study during extended visits to centres of excellence in orthognathic surgery in
England, Europe, and the USA. I have pioneered orthognathic surgery in Canberra from 1969 when
carrying out my first osteotomy of the mandible.
My wife Lois and I have 9 children and 12 (at last count) grand-children. My hobbies include,
golf (“very keen, but not very good”), gold prospecting, 4-wheel driving, outback and other
travel and reading.
